Dignity
Via Ravi Zacharias
“The history of Christendom is not free from perversions. But Jesus sent a message loud and clear. We are His temple. We do not turn in a certain direction to pray. We are not bound by having to go into a building so that we can commune with God. My relationship with God is intimate and personal. The Christian does not go to the temple to worship. The Christian takes the temple with him or her. Jesus lifts us beyond the building and pays the human body the highest compliment by making it His dwelling place, the place where He meets with us. Even today He would overturn the tables of those who make it a marketplace for their own lust, greed, and wealth.”
Greekfest
I just got back from Greekfest.
Turns out I like Gyros and Greek dancing, even though I’m not very good at it.
It kind of made me wish I was part of a clearer defined ethnic/national group. But then I realized I have the richest heritage anyone could wish for, which I’m glad about. (Ephesians 1:3-11).
Lyric of the Day
“I try to stay busy
I do the dishes, I mow the lawn
I try to keep the house nice and neat
Even though I know you’re not coming home
…
I hate it here when you’re gone”
Wilco/Sky Blue Sky/Hate It Here
Lyric of the Day
“Mother, don’t worry
I killed the last snake that lived in the creekbed
Mother, don’t worry
I’ve got some money I saved for the weekend
…
So may the sun rise,
Bring hope where it once was forgotten
Songs are like birds
Flying upwards over the mountain”
Iron and Wine/The Creek Drank the Cradle/Upwards Over the Mountain
Mission Statement-Life and This Blog
Upon being urged several times in things I’ve read I’ve been working on and prayerfully considering a summary statement on what I believe God wants from my life. Here goes.
“To defend faith in Christ through intellectually honest and responsible methods and to experience and magnify God through the humanities.”

A Prayer
From “The Anthology of Prayers for Public Worship”
We pray Thee, good Lord Jesus, by the love which Thou hadst for him that lay on Thy bosom, to make us thankful for all that Thou hast given us in our friends. Help us to love each other in Thee and for Thee, to be one in heart through all separations, and to walk as friends in the path of Thy service; and finally unite us for ever at Thy feet, where peace and love are perfect and immortal, and Thou, with the Father, etc.
